LatinJazzClub Big Band Series
Pan Con Bistec
composed
and arranged by Bobby Ramirez
"Pan Con Bistec" presents the physical
relationship of Afro-Cuban rhythm with Jazz swing through the
establishment of different musical time signatures like 6/8,
3/4, 4/4 (swing) and 2/2 (double time). The composition moves
briskly weaving from one time signature to another and back,
further demonstrating the cohesive functionality of Jazz within
and the general context and infrastructure of Afro-Cuban rhythm.
Written specifically for
the Big Band ensemble, this arrangement maintains the spirit
of the original recording as well as bringing new musical Mambo-style
elements to the forefront. It features the trombone section on
the melody, plus two (on cue) Mambos interweaving with the chorus
and solos.
Rates at a medium degree
of dificulty.
