LatinJazzClub Big Band Series
La Onda
composed
and arranged by Bobby Ramirez
This chart was crafted in a 1950's "Mambo
/ Cha-cha" style with a strong focus on the rhythmic characteristics
of Afro-Cuban music. While the chart has a few challenging parts,
the overall tenure is simple.
This chart is especially
useful as an educational tool for music ensembles that are looking
to explore the Latin side of Jazz. Music students will be introduced
to many basic patterns that are essential as part of today's
professional Latin music bands, blazing a musical trail to a
time when bandleaders like Tito Puente & his orchestra, and
Machito and his Afro-Cubans where making history at the famous
Palladium Ballroom in New York City.
Rates at a medium degree
of dificulty.
