LatinJazzClub Big Band Series
Encuentro
composed
and arranged by Bobby Ramirez
Ramirez continues to expand
the boundaries of Latin Jazz on this new arrangement for Big
Band, a progressive mambo/cha cha entitled "Encuentro."
It features the trombone section on the melody with some sax/flute
interludes throughout, time shift on the bridge going from 4/4
to 3/4, a danzon interlude, and a drum/percussion solo section.
This arrangement is an
excellent educational tool for a Big Band ensemble wanting to
explore the sound and rhythm of Latin Jazz.
Rates at a small degree
of dificulty. But, it can also work for an intermediate level
ensemble.
It is also writtin in a
style that recalls the "Mambo" big band era of the
1950's. The sounds and rhythmic energy contained in this arrangement
are essential for music students who are interested in grasping
the fundamentals of Latin Jazz.
